Free Duplicate File Finder
Version 3.2.0.1 of the free Fast Duplicate File Finder is released and available for download.
The new version adds support for symbolic links in Windows 7. Among the new enhancements are the Move/Delete files, results window and other small GUI fixes. In this new release the program can delete read-only files.
Fast Duplicate File Finder will check for Recycle Bin size and show a warning if you want to delete the files to Recycle Bin and there is not enough space available. Some CSV export issues are now fixed.

Version 3.0.0.1 of Fast Duplicate File Finder is now available for download.
The new release includes a handy Quick Check/Uncheck functionality. It allows you to check/uncheck files by their folder, extension, file size, file date, etc. (available only in Pro version). You can see the new feature on the screen shot below.
A new option to automatically log-off, shutdown, hibernate or stand-by the system after scan is finished is added.
The speed of the pre-processing stage is increased dramatically when scanning large quantities of files.
A command-line option “-run” which automatically start the scanning process after the program is started is now available in the Pro version.

Free Duplicate File Finder
Fast Duplicate File Finder 2.8.0.1 is available for download. In the new version you can pause and continue the scan process. The duplicates list can now be customized via the new tab in the options. You can choose which columns to be visible and which not. If you are unchecking a selection of files and there is a manually checked file in the list a warning message will be displayed. Hints in the filter dialog will display the full folder location if it doesn’t fit in the “Don’t Scan Folders” box. The improved folder selection dialog will let you select multiple folders simultaneously. The preview window has a lot of improvements and now uses Media Player 9 to preview video files. The fixes include some fixes related to moving files and a lot of improvements to the GUI.

Duplicate File Finder
Fast Duplicate File Finder 2.5.0.1 is released packed with new features. The new enhanced Browse for Folder dialog will let you add multiple folders at once. “Remove from list groups containing single file after delete/move” option is added. “Show user checked files in different color” and “Show user checked files in bold font” are useful in order to track the files that you have checked manually. The auto Check option to check “Files with newer dates” can be used to preserve your original files. New Auto Check option to check “Files with bigger sizes” in similarity mode is also available. A handy new feature is available via popup menu in the folders list – “Disable self-Scan For This Folder”. This is useful if you want to scan two (or more) folders against each other. You can now export the duplicates list to XML or CSV file. Added grid popup menu item “Check All Except Excluded” (CTRL+E) which will check all files except the excluded ones from the Advanced dialog in Auto-check options or files whose folder is excluded from auto-check. The next generation of Visual Similarity Duplicate Image Finder is released. Along with the countless improvements the new version is packed with new features.

A new scan method is available based on EXIF timestamp. “EXIF Date Time Original” will compare only the EXIF timestamp of the photos and group them according to the time difference in seconds set by the user. This new feature is very handy for finding sets of photographs taken in burst mode. If you shoot in RAW mode you can choose the best shots from the set and save valuable space by deleting the rest. (see the screenshots on the right)
The scan precision in “Visual Compare” mode is now increased and lets you set a fractional part. You can now set precise percentage e.g. – 95.1%, 95.2%, etc.
The files checked by the user are now marked in a different color (blended green) than the ones from the auto-mark feature. This lets you easily distinguish the modifications in the list that you have applied manually.
The comparing images phase is now 50% faster than before. We are constantly improving the performance of the tool and we will soon release a comparison table for your reference.
There are some slight improvements in the GUI too. Line numbers are added in the duplicate results grid for easier navigation. New keyboard shortcuts are also available :
- Ctrl+K checks selected files (also available as a popup menu)
- Ctrl+U unchecks selected files (also available as a popup menu)
- Ctrl+I inverts the checked status of the selected files (also available as a popup menu)
- Ctrl+A selects all files in the list
- Left and Right arrow keys can now be used to navigate in the big preview window.
- Enter and ‘C’ key now checks/unchecks the duplicate in the big preview window.

The project file size is reduced with 50% and loads faster. An important issue is fixed that was causing the application to freeze when the user tries to move duplicate images and there is not enough free space on target device.
