Visual Similarity Duplicate Image Finder 18.104.22.168 is Released
We are proud to announce that version 22.214.171.124 of the award-winning Visual Similarity Duplicate Image Finder application is now released and available for download. There are plenty of new features and major changes in this version of the tool.
VSDIF now adds full support for UNICODE file names. What this mean is that the application can handle file names in any alphabet simultaneously. Older versions of the application could handle file name only in two alphabets at the same time.
There is a huge performance improvement in the comparison phase where the application now utilizes all the cores of a CPU. This means that on Intel i5 CPU with 4 cores that phase will run at least 4 times faster.
There is a new EXIF information panel added to the right of the results list. This panel will display the EXIF data for the currently selected image in the list. The folders and scan settings panel provide a collapse feature in order to make room for the new EXIF panel while reviewing the results.
An extra option in the auto-check panel provides features to select files with newer dates.
Improvements to the preview panel are applied too. The “First in group” image is now updated when the list is sorted. There is an option to ALT-Click an image from the results list in order to update the “First in group” image.
Improved folders list – added display of the Exclude From Auto-check and Exclude From Self-scan features. As you already know these handy features make it possible to compare two or more folders against each other and also select a “source” folder in order to exclude the items inside from auto-check.
The new 126.96.36.199 major release of Audio Dedupe is packed with plenty of new features.
Two new file formats are now added to the supported file formats:
APE – Monkey’s Audio
Monkey’s Audio is a file format for audio data compression. Being a lossless format, Monkey’s Audio does not discard data during the process of encoding, unlike lossy compression methods such as AAC, MP3, Vorbis and Musepack.
Data file compression is employed in order to reduce bandwidth, file transfer time, and/or storage requirements. A digital recording (such as a CD) encoded to the Monkey’s Audio format can be decompressed into an identical copy of the original audio data. As with the FLAC and Apple Lossless format, files encoded to Monkey’s Audio are typically reduced to about half of the original size, with data transfer rates and bandwidth requirements being reduced accordingly.
TTA – True Audio
True Audio (abbreviated TTA) is a free, real-time lossless audio codec, based on adaptive prognostic filters. Also, .tta is the generic extension to filenames of audio files created by True Audio codec.
TTA performs lossless compression on multichannel 8, 16 and 24 bit data of uncompressed wav input files. The compression ratio of TTA depends on the type of music file being compressed, but after compression the size of output file will generally range between 30% – 70% of the original. TTA format supports both of ID3 v1 and ID3 v2 information tags. APEv2 tags support has been added recently.

Visual Similarity Duplicate Image Finder 188.8.131.52 adds support for DICOM Files. (Available only in Corporate version)
Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) is a standard for handling, storing, printing, and transmitting information in medical imaging. It includes a file format definition and a network communications protocol. The communication protocol is an application protocol that uses TCP/IP to communicate between systems. DICOM files can be exchanged between two entities that are capable of receiving image and patient data in DICOM format.
The PRO and Corporate versions also provide a powerful filter functionality that will let you exclude certain files or folders from the scan and also an option to delete empty folders.

The new grid popup menu item Properties shows windows explorer file properties window. Another grid popup menu item “Check All Except Excluded” will check all files except the excluded ones from the Advanced dialog in Auto-check options or files which folder was disabled for auto-check. The popup menu item “Disable self-Scan For This Folder” is now available also in the Pro along with the Corporate one. The “100% Identical Files” scan method is now a lot faster which is also true for the Check Selected/Invert Selection/Uncheck All when there are a lot of files in the duplicates list . There are now two separate columns for File Name and Folder which allows easier navigation and sorting.
There are also a lot of fixes. Some of them are the fixed logging under Windows Vista/7, fixed auto-check when there are folders disabled for auto-check.

Visual Similarity Duplicate Images Finder 184.108.40.206 is Released and available for download. The new version can automatically log-off, shutdown, hibernate or stand-by the system after scan is finished. A new feature will let you easily rename files inside the duplicate images list. Panasonic’s RW2 raw extension support is now added. Added -cachenames command-line parameter in Corporate version, that will increase extremely the scan performance if you compare new images against a database that is not modified. This option will tell Visual Similarity Duplicate Image Finder not to check the images in the database for changes. This will save time that would otherwise be wasted in order to rescan the existing images.
A new scan method is available based on EXIF timestamp. “EXIF Date Time Original” will compare only the EXIF timestamp of the photos and group them according to the time difference in seconds set by the user. This new feature is very handy for finding sets of photographs taken in burst mode. If you shoot in RAW mode you can choose the best shots from the set and save valuable space by deleting the rest. (see the screenshots on the right)
The scan precision in “Visual Compare” mode is now increased and lets you set a fractional part. You can now set precise percentage e.g. – 95.1%, 95.2%, etc.
The files checked by the user are now marked in a different color (blended green) than the ones from the auto-mark feature. This lets you easily distinguish the modifications in the list that you have applied manually.
The comparing images phase is now 50% faster than before. We are constantly improving the performance of the tool and we will soon release a comparison table for your reference.
There are some slight improvements in the GUI too. Line numbers are added in the duplicate results grid for easier navigation. New keyboard shortcuts are also available :
Ctrl+K checks selected files (also available as a popup menu)
Ctrl+U unchecks selected files (also available as a popup menu)
Ctrl+I inverts the checked status of the selected files (also available as a popup menu)
Ctrl+A selects all files in the list

Enter and ‘C’ key now checks/unchecks the duplicate in the big preview window.

(note the files in blended green marked manually)
The project file size is reduced with 50% and loads faster. An important issue is fixed that was causing the application to freeze when the user tries to move duplicate images and there is not enough free space on target device.
An improved management of large files (over 2GB) is applied.
