The Key New Features Of The Duplicate Audio Finder Tool

Filtering Duplicate Audio Files

The filtering panel provides a handy new option that makes it possible to filter folders by a phrase including wildcards. If the text “original” is entered – all the folders that contain “original” in the name will be matched. Vertical line e.g.: “copy|backup|bckp” can be used in order to specify and combine several phrases. Using the above example all the folders that contain “copy”,“backup” or “bckp” will be matched. A more sophisticated example is “b??(*)*” – it will match all folders starting with “b” followed by two characters then an opening bracket followed by one character and then a closing bracket followed by any number of characters.

The asterisk denotes that zero or more characters should be present and the question mark denotes that exactly one character should be present at that position. There are unlimited number of combinations that can be created in order to match a specific folder name. A screenshot of the new filtering window is available below:

Duplicate Music Finder User Interface And Features Improvements

Exclusion from “Auto-check” or from “Self-scan” can now be set for all folders in the list by clicking on the header of the corresponding column. The browse for folder dialog is also updated. If no folders are checked, the currently selected folder is added. This makes it easier to add a single folder to the list and saves the extra click to check it.

Every delete/move file operation that fails displays a HEX (hexadecimal) error code. That makes it easier to isolate the issue e.g. if the files is locked by another application, if the user account used to start the application does not have sufficient permissions to manipulate the file, if the file is stored on a read only media and so on. All the error codes can be found at the Duplicate MP3 Finder FAQ page

“Keep Folder Structure while moving files” is now optional. In previous versions of Audio Dedupe it was ON by default. Name conflicts in cases where there are more files with the same name from different locations that should be moved to the same backup folder are also solved. If the file “Intro.mp3” for example is moved to the same folder from multiple locations the extra copies will be moved with the name “Intro (1).mp3”, “Intro (2).mp3” and so on. While it does not make much sense if the source files are exact duplicates it is useful to preserve the source files if they are similar versions, but not 100% duplicates.

Unlike standard duplicate file finders Audio Dedupe can find similar and duplicate songs regardless of the file format. Audio Dedupe performs real audio analysis and “Listens” to the songs in order to find similarities. It can recognize exact duplicates or even remixes of the same song stored in different file formats. The tool supports plenty of file formats and will put an end to the mess in you music collention, iTunes, iPod, iPad, iPhone or other mp3 player devices. Here are some of the supported file formats: Supports MP3, MP2, MP1, MPA, WAV, OGG, AIFF, AAC, MP4, FLAC, AC3, WavPack (WV), Musepack (MPC) and Windows Media Audio (WMA) file formats.

Manage duplicates list – remove duplicate files easier

Version 3.1.0.1 provides two new features for managing the duplicates list. “Remove from List” context menu item is added that will remove the selected entries from the list. If the option “Remove groups that contain single file after move/delete” is enabled in the settings removing an item from a group that contains just two entries will automatically remove the group from the list. This option minimizes the chance of removing unique files from the library.

The other context menu item named “Remove Group from List” will remove the selected group without deleting any files.

Find duplicate songs faster

This release adds some performance improvements and provides better multithreading support. This means that the resources of a computer will be utilized better in order to provide faster performance. These improvements have higher impact on systems with multi-core CPU’s.

Find Duplicate Songs, Organize Music Collections – Audio Dedupe 3.0.0.1 Provides Improved Speed And Accuracy!

Remove duplicate songs, organize audio libraries and save valuable disk space with Audio Dedup 3.0.0.1

The new release of Audio Dedupe is packed with plenty of new features and improvements. As you already know Audio Dedupe is a tool that goes beyond the features of the standard duplicate file finders available on the market. Unlike those tools it can find similar songs comparing audio content. This makes it capable of finding similar songs even if they are stored in different audio formats. The standard duplicate finders can not identify even exact audio file duplicates if they are stored in different file formats as they compare file data instead of audio content.

Find Duplicate Songs In Multiple Languages (Full Unicode Support)

While older version of Audio Dedupe could work with two alphabets simultaneously the current version lifts that limit completely. Now the tool can handle files named in any number of languages at the same time. For example files using Japanese, Chinese, Greek, English or other languages in their names can be compared without the need to switch encoding inside Windows.

Find Similar Songs Faster Than Ever

This release utilizes all the cores of a modern CPU. The comparison phase is now multi-threaded. This means that a scan will be 2x, 4x, 8x, etc. faster depending on how many CPU cores you have. There are also additional speed optimizations in the preprocessing phase that provide at least 30% better performance than before.

Improved Duplicate Song Finder Engine

Older versions of Audio Dedupe were limited to a minimum of 90 seconds of audio data necessary in order to compare songs. This limitations is now reduced to just 30 seconds which means that Audio Dedupe can compare more files than before. Usually songs are larger than 2 minutes, but this improvements helps when comparing sound clips or parts of songs.

Duplicate Music Finder Features And User Interface Improvements

Some of the major new features include the improved folders list. It now provides the display of the Exclude From Auto-check and Exclude From Self-scan features. These are handy when comparing two or more folders for duplicates or merging songs from different locations. A “source” folder can be set in order to exclude the items inside from the auto-check feature and make sure that those are not marked for any move or delete operations.

The results grid provides advanced sorting features. The new version can sort the items in the list by preserving the integrity of the groups and also sort the items inside the groups. This means that the list can now be sorted by file size for example in order to get rid of the largest files first.

A “Default” cache is added and used if no cache settings are applied. The currently selected cache is reused for new projects. Using the cache system can dramatically reduce scan time for consequential scans. Scanning files that are cached can be thousands of times faster.

Finding similar songs and organizing audio files has never been easier. Version 2.9.0.1 of the popular duplicate mp3 finder Audio Dedupe is released and available for download.

There are plenty of new features and performance improvements in the latest Audio Dedupe relese. The latest version of Windows 8 is now fully supported.

This brand new release utilizes the new cache system that was introduced in our duplicate photo finder application recently and brings immense performance improvement. Searching for duplicate mp3 files can be more than 1000 (thousand) times faster when using the cache.

The filtering dialog now provides an option to exclude certain files based on different properties like type, location, size, date, name and more. This provides a lot more flexibility when searching for duplicate songs.

There is a new option in “Quick Check” – “Check All Except First in Group”. A new option “Show warning if all files in a group are marked for deleting” provides a higher reliability and will warn if someone tries to delete all the copies of the same song.

Project loading times are optimized and now large projects will be loaded much faster. A new command-line -p option to save the project after scan is added.

There are quite some optimizations applied to the “Browse for folder” dialog. It now displays much faster and can navigate to a path that is pasted from the clipboard. Music Manager – Delete Duplicate Songs

Managing music files and deleting duplicate songs will not only result in a better organized music collection, but will also save gigabytes of valuable disk space. It is extremely annoying to have duplicate songs in your iTunes Library, iPhone, iPod, iPad or any other mp3 player. Using a musing manager application can solve this issue and keep a clean of duplicates music collection.

Audio Dedupe is an innovative tool that can put and end to the mess in a music collection. There are plenty of methods that Audio Dedupe offer in organizing songs. The most notable thing about this product is the fact that it will actually “Listen” to the songs in a music collection in order to find similar or duplicate items. The tool performs a real audio analysis and can find similar songs even if they are stored in different audio formats. It does not rely on data like ID3 tags. If the songs are ripped from a CD or imported/downloaded from other locations and miss their ID3 tags Audio Dedupe is still able to identify them.

While many duplicate file finders are marketed like duplicate music finders the only thing they do is to find exact duplicates or in best case to look for duplicate ID3 tags. This is not much convenient as files that are stored in different file formats or have different ID3 tags or are not tagged at all will not be identified. This is the most often case when looking for duplicates so a standard duplicate file finder does not help much when the word comes to managing music libraries.

Using Audio Dedupe to manage a music collection is easy. It can scan an entire computer or just certain folders where the audio files are stored. The tool will locate and analyze all supported audio files and list them in a neat table grouped by similarity. While talking about file format we should mention that it support all common audio formats like – AAC Files (*.aac; *.mp4, *.m4a) – iTunes, iPod, iPhone Audio Files including Apple Lossles audio, AC3 Files (*.ac3), Audio IFF Files (*.aif; *.aiff), FLAC Files (*.flac), MPEG Audio Files (*.mp3;*.mp2;*.mp1;*.mpa), Musepack Files (*.mpc), OGG Files (*.ogg), WAVE Files (*.wav), WavPack Files (*.wv), Windows Media Audio Files (*.wma).

There is a built in player that supports continuous playback while switching between files. This is very handy as one can easily compare the quality of the audio in order to keep the best one in the collection. Speaking about quality, the application lists the bit rate, size, length, format and many other properties for every file in order for the user to easily choose the one to keep. There are also auto-check features that can automatically select files for deletion based on the above mentioned properties and also file date, file time, file location and so on.

Keeping an organized music collection and managing songs is easy using Audio Dedupe.
