Support for most of the popular audio formats  is present and it is easy to organize songs in iTunes, iPod, iPad, iPhone or other mp3 player devices. Here are some of the supported file formats: Supports MP3, MP2, MP1, MPA, WAV, OGG, AIFF, AAC, MP4, FLAC, AC3, WavPack (WV), Musepack (MPC) and Windows Media Audio (WMA) file formats.

This release does not add much features and is mostly oriented towards STABILITY and PERFORMANCE.

The key improvements in this release extracted directly from the Duplicate MP3 Finder’s What’s new page:

  • 20% faster performance
  • Stability improvements
  • Added support for reading UTF8 encoded tags

The log file now provides extra details about damaged audio files that may be present in your audio collection. If you have issues with freezing you can enable logging in settings and after the scan check the log file content which is located in “My Documents” folder and named “AudioDedupe_Log.txt”. Even if you do not have any issues with the Audio Dedupe application it is a good idea to run a scan with the log file enabled in order to identify damaged files and clean your audio collection by removing or repairing them. It is recommended to disable this feature if not needed as it will degrade the performance a bit.

The Key New Features Of The Duplicate Audio Finder Tool

Filtering Duplicate Audio Files

The filtering panel provides a handy new option that makes it possible to filter folders by a phrase including wildcards. If the text “original” is entered – all the folders that contain “original” in the name will be matched. Vertical line e.g.: “copy|backup|bckp” can be used in order to specify and combine several phrases. Using the above example all the folders that contain “copy”,“backup” or “bckp” will be matched. A more sophisticated example is “b??(*)*” – it will match all folders starting with “b” followed by two characters then an opening bracket followed by one character and then a closing bracket followed by any number of characters.

The asterisk denotes that zero or more characters should be present and the question mark denotes that exactly one character should be present at that position. There are unlimited number of combinations that can be created in order to match a specific folder name. A screenshot of the new filtering window is available below:

Duplicate Music Finder User Interface And Features Improvements

Exclusion from “Auto-check” or from “Self-scan” can now be set for all folders in the list by clicking on the header of the corresponding column. The browse for folder dialog is also updated. If no folders are checked, the currently selected folder is added. This makes it easier to add a single folder to the list and saves the extra click to check it.

Every delete/move file operation that fails displays a HEX (hexadecimal) error code. That makes it easier to isolate the issue e.g. if the files is locked by another application, if the user account used to start the application does not have sufficient permissions to manipulate the file, if the file is stored on a read only media and so on. All the error codes can be found at the Duplicate MP3 Finder FAQ page

“Keep Folder Structure while moving files” is now optional. In previous versions of Audio Dedupe it was ON by default. Name conflicts in cases where there are more files with the same name from different locations that should be moved to the same backup folder are also solved. If the file “Intro.mp3” for example is moved to the same folder from multiple locations the extra copies will be moved with the name “Intro (1).mp3”, “Intro (2).mp3” and so on. While it does not make much sense if the source files are exact duplicates it is useful to preserve the source files if they are similar versions, but not 100% duplicates.

Remove Duplicate Songs, Find Similar MP3 Files, Save Valuable Disk Space with Audio Dedupe Music Manager 2.9.0.1

Finding similar songs and organizing audio files has never been easier. Version 2.9.0.1 of the popular duplicate mp3 finder Audio Dedupe is released and available for download.

There are plenty of new features and performance improvements in the latest Audio Dedupe relese. The latest version of Windows 8 is now fully supported.

This brand new release utilizes the new cache system that was introduced in our duplicate photo finder application recently and brings immense performance improvement. Searching for duplicate mp3 files can be more than 1000 (thousand) times faster when using the cache.

The filtering dialog now provides an option to exclude certain files based on different properties like type, location, size, date, name and more. This provides a lot more flexibility when searching for duplicate songs.

There is a new option in “Quick Check” – “Check All Except First in Group”. A new option “Show warning if all files in a group are marked for deleting” provides a higher reliability and will warn if someone tries to delete all the copies of the same song.

Project loading times are optimized and now large projects will be loaded much faster. A new command-line -p option to save the project after scan is added.

There are quite some optimizations applied to the “Browse for folder” dialog. It now displays much faster and can navigate to a path that is pasted from the clipboard. There is also ‘drag and drop’ support available inside Audio Dedupe and you can drag your folder from Windows Explorer inside the application in order to include them in the scan.

There are plenty of other small bug fixes and improvements that you can find listed in the What’s New section.
