Fast Duplicate File Finder 5.4.0.1 – Autocheck Shorter/Longer file names

Fast Duplicate File Finder 64 Bit Version

MindGems Duplicate File Finder New Auto-Check Features

Fast Duplicate File Finder is recognized as the the fastest and the most reliable duplicate finder on the market. Any tool that claims faster performance compares MD5, CRC, size, dates, names or other unreliable properties which may lead to incorrect results and loss of valuable data.

Fast Duplicate File Finder (FDFF) performs real byte-to-byte comparison and guarantees that the identified files are 100% duplicates. If a tool finds more duplicates than FDFF that is not a sign of better performance – it is a sign of poor detection algorithm and one should really check the results provided by such tools deeper with a proper DIFF tool or a HEX editor.

New Auto-Check Features

The auto-check feature in the duplicate file finder is redesigned and includes options to auto-check files with shorter or longer file names. This is really handy in cases of files with prefixes or sufixes like Copy (X) of or Filename Copy (x).ext. The tool can now mark automatically the files based on the file name length. It is possible to keep the file with the shortest name or the one with the longest.

As the list of auto-check options grows larger and larger we have now grouped them in a drop-down list. It includes:

  • Smaller File Sizes
  • Bigger File Sizes
  • Older File Dates
  • Newer File Dates
  • Shorter File Names
  • Longer File Names

More auto-check options will be added as needed.

This version also includes a fix for a crash that was caused if a damaged DNG file was previewed. A fix for “Protect system files and folders” option is applied. In some cases if the option was enabled certain sub-folders in the “USERS” folder were not included in the scan.

A list of all the new features can be found on the Duplicate File Finder’s What’s new page.
